Five Bears Named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

The Brown baseball team had five players selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District baseball teams. Seniors J.J. Eno (Kahului, HI), Brian Kelaher (Farmington, CT), Ryan Murphy (Mantoloking, NJ), and Conor Reardon (Branford, CT) were all First Team selections and will be forwarded to the national ballot to be considered for Academic All-American honors, while junior Steve Daniels (Fox Point, WI) was named Second Team All-District. Jeff Dietz '08.5 Debuts For South Bend Silver Hawks
Former Brown pitcher Jeff Dietz (Altamonte Springs, FL) made his professional debut for the South Bend Silver Hawks, a Single-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, last week. The Ivy League Pitcher of the Year in 2007, Dietz has made two appearances since being recalled from Extended Spring Training, allowing no earned runs in 3.2 innings. (MORE) 5/1/08
Silverman Receives More National, Regional Honors
The honors continued to pour in for Brown senior pitcher Alex Silverman (Wilmington, NC) on Wednesday after his seven-inning, 16-strikeout performance on Saturday against Yale. Silverman was named to the College Baseball Foundation and Diamond Sports' "National All-Star Lineup," and was chosen by CollegeBaseballInsider.com as the Regional Player of the Week for the East.
